Medicine in India.

It is unfortunate that medical care in India is mostly beyond the reach of the poor. Even in urban settings, medical care is really only available to people who can pay. Big surprise, you say? But this was not the way things were originally planned. Given that many medical students study at the taxpayer's cost, the few months of service they are supposed to put in at a government health centre is hardly compensation enough. In the midst of this dismal outlook there are, however, stories of hope. Here is one: where doctors in UP have managed to perform bronchial surgery on a child.
